Healing from Burnout with Brainspotting Intensives for Millennial Helping Professionals
As a millennial helping professional—whether you're a therapist, nurse, doctor, or social worker—it's easy to become consumed by the demands of your career. Your dedication to supporting others often leaves little room for taking care of yourself. Burnout, overwhelm, and chronic stress can feel like inevitable parts of the job. But what if you could break free from these patterns? Brainspotting intensives offer a unique opportunity to help you heal deeply, allowing you to find relief from the weight of burnout and create sustainable healing.
What is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting is a powerful somatic therapy modality that integrates the mind and body to facilitate healing. It uses fixed eye positions, known as "brainspots," to access deeper layers of the brain where anxiety, stress, and trauma are stored. By focusing on a specific brainspot, the therapist helps guide the client into a state of heightened awareness, allowing the client to process and release deep-seated emotional and physical tension.
What makes Brainspotting so unique is its ability to tap into the body's natural healing capacity. Rather than relying solely on talking through your emotions, Brainspotting engages your nervous system and unconscious mind to process unresolved experiences at the somatic level. This creates an opportunity for change, especially for those dealing with chronic stress, trauma, or burnout.
What is a Brainspotting Intensive?
A Brainspotting intensive is a deep, focused therapy experience where you work with a Brainspotting therapist for an extended period—typically several hours in one session, or up to 1-3 days of intensive sessions. This is different from traditional therapy, which typically involves weekly 60-minute sessions. During an intensive, the therapist has the opportunity to focus entirely on you, helping you process and heal in a deeper and more immediate way.
For millennial helping professionals experiencing burnout, this format is especially beneficial. Intensity and depth are essential when working with overwhelming emotions, and the traditional stop-and-start pace of weekly therapy can feel like too slow a process when you're struggling to keep up with the demands of your career. Brainspotting intensives allow you to dive deeper into what is causing your burnout—whether it's chronic overworking, unresolved trauma, or emotional stress—and begin to unravel it quickly, helping you to regain balance, energy, and a sense of purpose.
The benefits of a Brainspotting intensive include:
Personalized Healing: We tailor the intensive to address your specific needs and goals. Whether you want to address the emotional causes of burnout or find ways to regulate your nervous system, we can create a plan that works for you.
Faster Relief: Brainspotting allows you to process deep-seated stress and emotional blocks quickly, providing a level of relief that can be harder to achieve in traditional sessions.
Long-Term Transformation: By addressing the root causes of burnout, you’re not just relieving symptoms—you’re creating healing that helps you build resilience and prevents burnout in the future.
Unlike traditional weekly therapy, which often feels like a series of stops and starts, Brainspotting intensives create a continuous space for deep healing. This consistent focus allows for quicker breakthroughs and more significant shifts in your mental and emotional well-being.
About Me
Hi, I’m Deanna Kessler, and I understand burnout because I’ve been there myself. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, certified Brainspotting therapist and consultant, as well as an EMDR-certified therapist and consultant-in-training. I integrate parts work and nature-based mindfulness into my practice, and I’m passionate about helping others who, like me, have experienced the challenges of overworking and burnout.
We hold so much space for others in our work, and it’s vital to remember that we need to hold space for ourselves too. Brainspotting has been a key tool in my own healing journey, and I want to offer the same relief to other helping professionals who are struggling. My goal is to support you in creating a healthier, more sustainable approach to your work and life.
